Rewiring, Not Retiring – The Next Chapter

by | Mar 4, 2025

For the past two years, I’ve been talking about my transition—moving from “retiring” to “rewiring.” Most people dream of retirement, only to find themselves asking, “What’s next?” I knew I wasn’t going to retire in the traditional sense; instead, I’m stepping into a new phase of reinvention, one that feels more aligned, more intentional, and frankly, more fun.

I made a short video for you to share a little more about this new phase of my life. Just click to watch to learn more about my new adventure.

As an M&A attorney, I’ve spent years helping business owners navigate their exits, but now I’m asking myself:

  • How can the next 10 years be the most impactful of my life for myself and others?
  • How can I work with a limited group of people who I love working with in a way that makes the most meaningful difference? (For background information on this idea I would refer you to the Entrepreneur Operating System (“EOS”) at www.eosworldwide.com)
  • How can I lean into and drill down on the things that truly matter—purpose, connection, and legacy for all?

Every decade, I have worked to “rewire” for myself and my clients — to evolve, to grow, and to ensure we’re not just working, but creating significance. And now, I’m stepping fully into this next phase. Some of you have playfully called me “soulful” or “holistic,” and the truth is, I’m embracing that. It’s not about being a traditional attorney any longer–it’s about impact, about loving the work I do and the people I do it with.

You will hear from me once a month with some soulful insights, holistic thoughts on rewiring, and the various roads to take to make the next decade your best yet! In fact, as I mentioned in the video above, I’d like to get your opinion. I’d like to brand the newsletter and have narrowed the title down to 2 names. I would appreciate if you use the form below to leave your vote for the one you like best.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s catch up—shoot me a note, give me a call, or let’s grab coffee.

The next chapter is just beginning, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Cheers,
Dave
